Using Baking Soda For Acne

by feedme on August 9, 2010

A lot of people have been asking if baking soda can really be a treatment for acne. Well then it’s time to end the debate. Yes, baking soda can alleviate symptoms of acne and prevent the growth of pimples overnigh. And what I’m saying here is based on personal experience. Following are acne home remedies that uses baking soda.

As a face mask

Baking soda acne treatment is actually very effective. A paste is created by adding water to the baking soda. The paste is then placed on the skin for fifteen minutes. This cleans off dirt from the skin and allows for a fresher looking facial surface. This should be done before going to bed, about four times each week. Of course, like other home acne remedies, you must first wash your face with warm water before doing this. Don’t rub towel on your skin. Ideally, drying should be done by patting or dabbing the towel on the face.

Specific spots treatment

Now this method of baking soda acne cure is pretty much the same with the first one. Basically, what you do here is apply the paste directly on the pimple. Using warm water, this can be removed the following morning. Baking soda basically dries out the skin and removes the trapped oil in the pores. Again, pat dry with a clean towel.

Using baking soda for scars

Most believe that baking soda has the capacity to remove scars. Although I haven’t done this personally, others swears by this method.

Testing Baking Soda

People who have sensitive skin are not advised to use this acne treatment method. If you want to do a skin test, first place baking soda paste on the inside of your wrist. Let it stay there for some time. If you notice any unnatural redness or itchiness on that area, then skip the whole baking soda routine and find another option.

If you’re allergic, then there are some other acne treatments you can try. Some of these include toothpaste, pumpkin and even garlic. Pumpkin and garlic have all the earmarks of an effective face mask. Both are also capable of healing scars. Placing toothpaste on the pimple is also effective.

Keep in mind that these may take time to work. However, you shouldn’t have any problems sticking to the routine. Aside from these treatments, don’t forget to eat right and exercise daily. This will keep your skin healthy from the inside. Wash your face often and remove any trace of dirt or make up.
